Collaboration with Japanese manufacturers and craftsmanship

This lampshade is made using the traditional Kyoto-based technique of "Kyo-Jibari," and has a structure that is both durable and delicate. Ambientec, which always values texture, is the only one that allows you to experience the rare, living craftsmanship up close and in every detail. This was made possible by adding the excellent technology of Karimoku Furniture, Japan's leading wooden furniture manufacturer.

    Ambientec Original LED Module

Building on the original Ambientec LED light source, a new version has been developed toensure the lamp casts a homogenous glow while evenly illuminating the lampshade withoutrevealing the internal components. A dim-to-warm feature allows the lamp to adapt to therhythm of the day, harmonizing with daylight and creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere atnight, enhancing the interplay between the light source and the illuminated objects indarkness.

Common philosophy between Ambientec with Karimoku Case

Ambientec and Karimoku Case share a commitment to creatingdesigns that are not only functional but also enrich the user's experience and environment. This shared philosophy emphasizes striving for the natural and timeless, using materials thatpossess an inherent richness and gain beauty with time and age.

    Karimoku Case | Karimoku Case

We find value in "reverence for tranquil beauty," "rich expression of materials," and "timeless appeal," and through projects with architects and designers from Japan and abroad who share these values, we develop products designed for specific spaces, manufacture them, and propose them to the world.

    Manufacturing Collaborator

    Kojima Shoten

Kojima Shoten was founded during the Edo period between 1789 and 1801. Since then, they have continued to produce high-quality lanterns as specialists in Kyoto-jibari style lanterns.

All processes, from splitting the bamboo to pasting the paper, are completed by hand, one by one, by specialized craftsmen. The core of Kojima Shoten today is a young craftsman who learned the techniques from his father, and his friend. While inheriting the traditional techniques and continuing to make lanterns for Kyoto's leading cultural facilities and stores, they also collaborate with famous brands from around the world and create new lanterns made from sustainable materials that suit modern lifestyles.

Today, we continue to create beautiful, durable and innovative lanterns.

    Designer

    Norm Architects

Founded in 2008, Norm Architects is a multidisciplinary design studio active in industrial design, residential architecture, commercial interiors, photography, art direction, etc. The essence of Norm Architects' work lies in the balance between abundance and constraint, order and complexity, just like human happiness.

What their projects, whether architecture or interior design, have in common is simplicity that contains bigger ideas. Guided by what the body and mind desire rather than trends and techniques, and by pursuing not only aesthetic beauty but also comfort, their architecture becomes more thoughtful, minimalism takes on a soft feel, and flat elements are given texture.

Their work is a testament to their refined design, meticulous attention to detail and a strong sense of durability. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, their studio is based on a respect for its context, drawing on timeless beauty, natural materials and the understated sophistication of Scandinavian design.

By exploring what elicits human emotion, their projects strip spaces, objects, ideas and images down to their simplest form - finding that perfect balance where there is nothing to add and nothing to take away is Norm Architects' specialty.
