Light in Two Expressions — Xtal and Still

Xtal excels at expressing outward light, capturing the delicate shadows it casts and the sparkle on the surface of transparent crystal glass. Still, on the other hand, is characterized by the beauty of light perceived from within through layers of transmitted glass, allowing one to appreciate the difference in how it looks in sunlight versus in the dark.

Expressions of Clear Glass Shaped by the Depth of Light

The layered glass creates nuanced refractions, diffusion, and reflections of light, allowing its appearance to shift depending on the viewing angle and surrounding environment. In daylight, the shadows take on a transparent orange-brown tone. After dusk, the illuminated glass takes on a deep amber glow with the richness of whiskey. The depth of light felt through the colored glass gives Still a quiet presence that invites it to remain close at hand throughout both day and night.

    Designer

    Ryuichi Kozeki

RYUICHI KOZEKI carries out a wide variety of activities, from product design to spatial and graphics, overseeing projects from a multilateral perspective and also handling brand direction by covering those wide-ranging activities. This involves taking an approach that scrutinizes the balance between the realistic parts like material and technique, and the parts that influence sensitivity like impression and atmosphere, understanding the context, and at times renewal. After graduating from the Department of Design at Tama Art University, KOZEKI was apprenticed to Toshiyuki Kita. He opened his own design studio RKDS in 2011 and has received a number of awards, including the iF Design Award, Good Design Award Special Award and Best 100.
